Five nights in the hills between Siena and Florence, in the fortnight the poppies come up. Movement in an olive grove, a pasta lesson with the family who has cooked in that kitchen for forty years, a slow day among the vines, and a long table under a pergola every night.

Tokyo & the Mountains

Seven nights, two chapters, in Japan's red-and-gold season. Tokyo first — gardens in crimson, a guided day through doors you'd never find, the quietest bathhouse in the city. Then one bullet train to Kanazawa, the old samurai city, for a sword lesson with a master, tea houses, gold leaf, and an onsen evening under the maples. With a guest co-host.

St. Moritz

Five nights in the Engadin at the fortnight the whole alpine calendar points to — White Turf race days on the frozen lake, blue-sky mornings on the Corviglia pistes, a sleigh into the Roseg valley, and fondue in a chalet with a very low ceiling. We stay a little up the valley, where the rooms are handsome and the views are better, and spend the difference on the days.

Cape Town

Two oceans, one mountain, and the light everyone talks about — Table Mountain at dawn, the Clifton beaches, a full winelands day, and dinners that run until the stars come out. Our founder spent working seasons here; this journey returns on her own terms. Planned for the Cape's midsummer.
